At the core of the MAC’s Northwest Art Collection lies artwork by the instructors and students of the Spokane Art Center. Funded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal, this center became a dynamic force in the Spokane community where thousands enrolled in free art classes taught by prominent American artists between 1938 and 1942.
